"Miriam is brilliant for anybody like me, who is a bit overwhelmed by technical stuff. A few weeks ago my novel "Under a Maltese Sky" was not selling, simply because it was not available online. Now, thanks to Miriam, and her expertise, my book is again for sale and I also have a shiny new website. Miriam is patient, knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to help you in any way she can. I highly recommend her skills. Lovely person too." Nicola Kearns, Author http://nicolakearnswriter.com/
"Having known Miriam for more years than I care to count, I was delighted to be able to consult with her for a website and hosting services for my new business. Osprey Hosting made everything incredibly simple - to the point I wish I had worked with these folks in a previous business life too. From advice on themes, getting domain name registered, to training so that I could do a lot of work myself to develop my site, to giving me some great ideas about layout, etc., the whole process went very smoothly. I am very happy to recommend both Miriam and Osprey Hosting." Anne Marie Lynch, Lynch Animal Physiotherapy http://lynchanimalphysiotherapy.ie/

I've lots of women friends who are business savvy, wise women. I know women who read blogs, have websites, write blogs, spend time on social media and who don't understand what web site hosting is. Having said that I also know men who don't understand what website hosting is however the internet is full of web hosting companies which are already run by men so the guys are catered for if they are so interested.
I'm a woman, I'm interested in translating web hosting for my women friends, for women in business, women who wish to share their thoughts or creativity online, for women I haven't yet met.
Is it patronising? I don't think so, I certainly hope it's not patronising to want to cater for women. I'm not saying that women aren't techy, I am a #GeekyGranny after all. Neither am I saying that I don't want male clients. My experience is that sometimes women like to deal with other women when it comes to websites. I'm not exclusive, I'm really happy to have male clients, I want to provide a techy space that is women friendly without excluding anyone, I am just including women more.
I think so and time will tell, in the meantime here I am, offering services to anyone, male, female, inter-gender, trans-gender and non-gender who are interested in helping alleviate the carbon footprint of the internet, one website at a time.
Yes, I did. Did you know that the internet is fast catching up with the airline industry as the most polluting industry we have? We might not all use aeroplanes regularly however I'm willing to bet that we all use websites everyday.
Websites use electricity, lots of electricity.
Websites are all stored (hosted) on servers (basically hard drives), sitting on shelves in giant warehouses and all plugged into an electrical utility. These warehouses require heating and cooling, lighting etc. so the power bills are high, really high. Most of the power used is fossil fuel (coal is never clean, no matter how they re-brand it) or nuclear power. Just saying...
